1. First the water is pumped down
then the old liner is cut out.
2. If the liner is old and has not
been kept in good shape it can be very brittle.
3. It is much easier to carry the
liner out in small, folded sections.
4. Careful! The ground
underneath the old liner can be very slippery. Watch your step. |
5. The deep end can be cut into
long strips for easy folding.
6. For example! |
7. Make sure to cut out the face
plates and light.
8. If the liner is stuck on the
ladder then lift up on the ladder and let the liner fall.
9. Wash down the floor so that it
is clean. |
10. After all the water is out and
the liner is stripped this should be the result.
11. If there are roots then they
can be cut out with a knife.
12. If the pool has a bottom drain
cover take it off and place it somewhere that it won't be broken.
13. The bottom drain cover
will come off easily when all the screws are off.
14. After the cover is off,
scrape the gasket off.
15. The liner should be out of the
pool by now. Wash down the walls and floor then vacuum the water out of
the bottom of the pool.
16. There will be water in the
bottom drain.
| 17. Suck it out with a vacuum. |
18. When all the water is
out of the bottom drain take a new bottom drain gasket and spray it with
3M Super 77 spray glue.
19. After the glue sets up a
little place the gasket on the bottom drain. |
20. If the pool has lots of
dents or imperfections dry mix can be used to fill them up or smooth them
out. |
21. Dry mix can be put on dry or
mixed with water if the imperfections are deep or on the side of the
angle.
22. On the floor the dry mix is best
used dry. Moisture from when the floor was washed down will mix
with the dry mix.
23. The dry mix is not the same
color as the floor but it is not seen so it does not matter. The
floor should be smooth when the dry mix is done being laid down.
24. When the floor is smooth take
the liner out of the box. Do not use a knife or any other sharp
tool to cut the box open. The liner might be cut in the
process. Lay the liner on the shallow end of the pool. The DEEP
sticker should be facing up.
25. Pull the DEEP end
of the liner toward the deep end of the pool. Hang the shallow end
first and align the corners. After the shallow end is done hang
the deep end and align the corners.
26. If the corners do not align
right away. Pull the liner toward the corner that you need more
material.
27. Run your hand down the wall and
find the corner to make sure that the liner is in place.
28. After the liner is in take a Shop Vac
or a vinyl liner vacuum and place it on the deck past the break in the
pool on the deep end side. The "break" is where the shallow end
ends and the slope begins.
29. The corners should be in place.
30. If the corners are in then they
should look like this after the vinyl liner vacuum is turned on.
31. If the pool has a bottom drain
then the face plate has to be put on.
32. When the bottom drain is in then
the water can be turned on.
33. If the pool has steps that the
liner does not go over then the face plates for those have to be put on.
34. The face plates keep the liner
connected to the steps.
35. Align the screws and the face
plate with the holes on the steps.
36. Make sure the screws are snug.
